Chapter 1205: World End's River

When the vibrations in the world space subsided, Li Luo opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was the outline of a rough city. Huge stone pillars were erected around the city, and on top of each pillar was a huge mirror. Rays of light reflecting from mirror to mirror intersected above the city, illuminating the city like sunlight.

People were walking about in all directions. It was a bustling location, and mighty undulations of resonant power could be felt from time to time. Clearly, many Dukes were passing by.

The number of Dukes far exceeded what Li Luo had seen back in the Dragon's Fang Lineage.

"World End's River Region is a place full of Foundational Spirit Treasures. In terms of value and grade, it is probably second only to the actual Nobles' Battlefield. As such, many Dukes from the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent gather here despite the dangers.

"In fact, some Heavenly Resonance Stage elites come here to try their luck too. If they are lucky and obtain a Foundational Spirit Treasure, they can use it to trade with the Dukes if they can't use it themselves. They are all worth considerable sums of money," Li Rouyun explained as Li Luo looked around.

He nodded, sensing the desire these Dukes had for Foundational Spirit Treasures. The more power and authority one saw a Duke wielding, the more one would strive to reach the same stage. To do so, a Foundational Spirit Treasure was a prerequisite.

As such, this World End's River Region was especially important for Dukes without a strong power backing them.

"We are in a transit area in the western district of World End's River Region. This can be considered the outer region of World End's River Region. We'll be heading deeper into the east. That is where Heavenly Dragon Peak is located."

Li Rouyun smiled at Li Luo and his friends as she continued, "Heavenly Dragon Peak is the base the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li has built up over the years. The Heavenly Dragon’s Five Guardian Armies are situated there. Let's get going. World End's River Region has all kinds of people, and there are true experts here as well. We will only be safe after we reach Heavenly Dragon Peak."

Li Luo, Jiang Qing'e, and Li Hongyou had no objections to that, so the group set off. The airship flew through the air and dashed towards the east.

When they left the city, there were fewer beams of light from the mirrors illuminating the area. Li Luo could see the sky turning darker. Following this, he could hear the rushing sound of water.

When this noise reached his ears, his resonant power slowed down uncontrollably. Then a strange pressure surfaced within his heart, and his face turned pale.

Without any hesitation, he looked over at Jiang Qing'e and Li Hongyou. The former appeared better, but she was frowning a little. Li Hongyou's face, on the other hand, was full of fear.

"What's happening? Where is the sound of water coming from? Is it the Others?" Li Luo asked suspiciously.

However, Ox Biaobiao and Li Rouyun looked completely fine. Li Rouyun raised her fingers and pointed above them. "Take a look."

The three of them raised their heads, and their eyes narrowed immediately.

There was an endless river coursing and raging in the vast sky above them. They could not see its source, but it cut across the sky and continued flowing as far as the eye could see.

Li Luo had never seen such a huge river. Even though they were thousands of miles away from it, it was so grand and overwhelming that they could not help but feel frightened.

The giant river was grayish-black in color. It stretched across the whole sky with occasional flashes of light flitting through it, as if there were hidden stars within. These little lights illuminated World End's River Region.

"Is this... the World End's River?" A look of shock appeared on Jiang Qing'e’s charming face.

Li Luo was also taken aback. The World End's River was actually in the sky, contrary to the ordinary river he had imagined it to be.

The shadow world, where Others resided, was just on the other side of the World End's River.

"This is the World End's River that separates our world and the Others’ world. It acts as a barrier that prevents our two worlds from clashing," Li Rouyun explained.

"What you see here is just a small portion of it. It happens to pass through this world space, forming World End's River Region. Remember those precious Foundational Spirit Treasures that you heard about? Where do you think they come from?"

Before Li Luo could answer, Li Rouyun had continued,, "They all fell out of the World End's River."

"The World End's River does not contain actual water. Instead, it is the condensation of a special kind of worldly natural energy. From time to time, it leaks out into World End's River Region. The Foundational Spirit Treasures descend along with it. However, World End's River Region is connected to the shadow world, so Others may infiltrate whenever there's such a situation, causing a great bloodbath. Fortunately, only True Devil Others are capable of making their way across the World End's River. Nonetheless, World End's River Region is extremely vast. Not even the major powers have really explored the deeper areas. It's said that even Other Kings exist there."

Li Luo looked up at the World End's River with eyes full of awe and surprise. “So, this is how this place full of dangers and riches came about?”

"Every few years, a big disturbance occurs in the World End's River. Enormous amounts of water fall from the sky, and when the river overflows, even King Stage Others make their way across the river. That is the most dangerous time at World End's River Region."

Hearing this, Li Luo suddenly recalled what Li Jingzhe had mentioned right before their departure. "Is that known as the Stygian Rain of Calamity?"

Li Rouyun nodded. Her eyes turned serious as she continued, "The water that falls from the sky turns into a stygian rain that lasts for months. When the rain falls, thousands of Others march. The Others make use of the opportunity to tear down the defenses of the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent and infiltrate us. During such times, the major powers assign a King to come over and stand guard. Let's hope that we will not encounter the Stygian Rain of Calamity while we’re here."

At this point, Ox Biaobiao added, "That's just short-term thinking. The Stygian Rain of Calamity may be frightening and dangerous, but it also presents a big opportunity. Many top-class Foundational Spirit Treasures appear while it goes on. It is a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of opportunity."

Li Rouyun nagged back angrily, "You only think of the opportunities. When the rain falls, even an eighth-grade Duke might fall along with it, let alone a seventh-grade like you."

Ox Biaobiao glared at her. He was about to retort, but Li Rouyun gave him a stern glare. She looked at him with a straight face, as if she was saying she would tear him a new one if he got any fiercer. Therefore, Ox Biaobiao could only rub his hand against his head and look away. Meanwhile, Li Luo was secretly enjoying the show. Who knew that the fierce Uncle Biao could be restrained by someone like this?

They continued to chat as the airship flew across the sky. They passed by many squads along the way, all of which had the stench of blood. Clearly, they had all gone through a great, bloody battle.

Only the Dukes within those squads managed to survive.

Since their airship waved the flag from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li, none of them dared to offend Li Luo and the rest.

Thus, the journey went smoothly

"We will reach Heavenly Dragon Peak in half a day's time," Li Rouyun said as she heaved a sigh of relief.

As long as Li Luo and the duo arrived at Heavenly Dragon Peak safely, their mission would be completed.

Jiang Qing'e, who had been resting at the side, suddenly opened her eyes. She shouted in shock, "Something is amiss!"

Ox Biaobiao was surprised to hear this. Then his resonant power surged up without any hesitation. The air vibrated, and seven Duke Bergfrieds appeared above him.

Thick smoke slowly arose from the Duke Bergfrieds. This was a Duke's Divine Mist.

The Divine Mist formed a protective shield and rapidly covered up the airship.

However, the void in front of them tore open just when Ox Biaobiao's preparations were almost complete. Four Divine Mists of different attributes penetrated the sky in beams and charged towards the airship directly.

Bang!

The Divine Mist shield that Ox Biaobiao had set up turned dim at an astonishing speed. At the same time, runes started extending across the shield.

At the next instant, the Divine Mist shield cracked open. The four other Divine Mist beams had shattered the airship's shield completely.

Luckily, Ox Biaobiao was able to buy them enough time. With a wave of her sleeves, Li Rouyun had made use of this window to grab onto Li Luo and the other two, and they escaped towards the rear of the airship.

Ox Biaobiao attempted to retreat as well. His eyes turned extremely gloomy and fierce as he looked towards the front.

Four figures appeared in the middle of the sky. They were surrounded by green mist that covered up their bodies and auras, so no one could tell who they were exactly.

However, their murderous intent could not be hidden. Ox Biaobiao and Li Rouyun's hearts sank immediately. When had World End's River Region become so chaotic? They dared to attack an airship from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li?!
