Cultivation Through Artifacts

Chapter 161: First Step

The news about Khal’s arrival spread in Moon City and Moon Academy like wildfire and soon thousands of people began appearing on the streets, all of them cheering him like a veteran soldier that just returned from a long-fought war.

At first, Khal was surprised to see so many Cultivators celebrating his return, but once Jas explained to him why they were so happy everything became clear.

“Thanks to you, not only Moon Academy but the entirety of Moon City will be able to live the next decade in growing fame, wealth, and prosperity. Also, thanks to the fact that Moon City’s Cultivator’s Organization obtained the right to have a Transfer Station, people that are struggling and even remained on the lower Stages for years maybe could break through their bottlenecks in that Digital World, thus you are a hero for them. Haha, it is not an exaggeration to say you saved their future!”

“So that’s why…” nodded Khal and waved back at the crowd that celebrated him, causing a huge wave of cheers to break out from the people right away.

Some were so happy that they even raised their weapons high into the air while there were even a few that fired different kinds of abilities high up into the skies!

Enjoying this unique feeling, Khal suddenly noticed Liza’s gaze on his skin thus glanced at her and asked, “Something the matter?”

“Nothing particularly. It’s just great to see you smile again.” laughed Liza, causing Khal to subconsciously smile even more.

“Well, life is too short not to enjoy these moments thus it would be strange if I don’t smile upon seeing so many people cheering on me.”

“That’s how you think?”

“Yep.”

Liza seeing Khal’s happy grin that she had hardly seen in years, smiled too and tugged him by the waist, “Well, let’s hope this fame won’t go over your head.”

“Haha, of course not! But even if it goes I’m pretty sure you will slap me back to earth.”

Soon they arrived back at Moon Academy where students were waiting already, all of them staring at Khal with admiration and respect.

None of them held the gaze that they did a month ago as now they didn’t dare to. No matter what others said, Khal was a being that defined every rational thinking.

He had two Talents, a powerful Secret Art and weapon, a Beast Core, a Tamed Beast. He had strength that was able to beat others above his Stage while also the intention to kill without hesitation.

Simply put, Khal was a Cultivator that no ordinary person could rival! Or at least not those with common Talents and weak Cultivation Bases…

“Not gonna lie, you look more handsome than ever before.” once next to Khal, Merlyn began to smile seductively at him, making Liza and Rubie narrow their eyes at her in an instant.

Even Khal seemed surprised as this was the first time for him to see Merlyn act this way even though he knew her quite well.

“Oh, my~” laughed Merlyn and even took a step back, however her eyes flashed with a profound light as she perked at Khal’s figure curiously.

“Junior Brother! You are back!” Marx opened his arms wide open and hugged Khal powerfully, almost breaking the bones inside his body.

“Argh… Yeah… It is really nice to see you too… But, please put me down now. You are killing me…” hissed Khal, barely able to keep breathing.

“My bad.” laughed Marx awkwardly and put Khal down, but his eyes still held great respect.

Ever since he saw Khal’s bravery and the way he fought against Seila and basically everyone, his respect toward him deepened even more.

Anyone with a lower Cultivation Base would have run away or stood still waiting for their death, yet Khal fought Seila without fear.

Naturally, he did run away the first time which he felt a bit cowardly but who cares about that? He fought for the second time like a real man and that’s all that matters!

“If you have any injury let me heal you, you can always ask me to help,” exclaimed Asur from the side for which Khal smiled and chuckled, “Well, I think I have a few broken ribs from the previous hug so…”

Immediately as his voice fell everyone around smiled while some even laughed merrily. There were even several female Cultivators that tried to use this as an opportunity to get closer to Khal, but all were halted by Liza’s and Rubie’s sharp gaze from the side.

“I think this is yours.” while everyone talked and enjoyed the moment, Nash appeared out of nowhere, his hand holding a small box and a letter.

When Khal noticed the box he was confused but the moment his gaze grabbed the letter he immediately understood what was inside the box.

“Thanks a lot. I will take care of the matter personally,” said Khal with a slight smile, his eyes flashing with a coldness that only Nash was able to notice and understand.

Though, exactly because of this as he understood that coldness was why he felt sad. He knew that what Khal was about to do will turn his world upside down and maybe even pushing his life into chaos.

If he can pull it off safely he can avoid pulling his loved ones into the approaching mayhem, but if not…

“What’s that?” asked Liza curiously as she pried the box in Khal’s grasp.

“Oh? Just a few things I asked Nash to throw out before I went away but now that I am still alive I just keep them,” exclaimed Khal, and even before Liza could have had the chance to take it away from him he put it inside his ring.

“Huh? A Spatial Ring? Where did you get it?” Logan and several others seemed surprised by the ring on Khal’s finger, but he simply shrugged and said, “Of course bought it from the prize I won. How else could have I bought a Spatial Ring?”

That reasonable answer made everyone around look at Khal in even more awe as his reply seemed way too casual.

“Damn, I want to buy a Spatial Ring too! It’s so cool!”

“Me too!

“Me too!”

People one after another seemed sad about the fact they were unable to obtain a Spatial Ring, but surprisingly none of them talked with jealousy or envy.

Every one of them knew that Khal deserved that ring fair and square for which they didn’t dislike not hate him, not in the slightest.

The atmosphere seemed to be happy and full of joy when suddenly a figure appeared out of the crowd and walked before Khal.

Everyone seemed confused by this and the whole place went dead silent, but on the other hand, Khal’s gaze turned ice cold while the smile on his face has already vanished a long time ago

Staring at Alde, the one he hated and despised the most, Khal felt the urge to summon his weapon and cut his throat wide open right there and then, but resisted the temptation to do so.

Instead, he forced a smile and wanted to say something, but suddenly Alde extended his arms and raised his face, showing a beaming smile that surprised not only him but everyone present!

“You were phenomenal! Maybe it appears a bit strange thanks to our past, but I hope we can forget about that and get to know each other better. How does that sound for you?”

‘…’

“Eh?”
