Chapter 644 - He’s Not My Boyfriend!

Chapter 644: He’s Not My Boyfriend!

Xia Ning was surprised when she saw the man. She didn’t expect to see him here.

“Are you done?” Qiao Yu asked Xia Ning.

Xia Ning nodded. “Yes.”

“Let’s go home then.” Qiao Yu took her hand after that and led her to the elevator.

Xia Ning gave Jin Yan a silent nod and followed Qiao Yu. The guy had some wrong idea about her and Jin Yan and she really didn’t want to aggravate it. Now wasn’t a good time to talk to Jin Yan and she was sure that Jin Yan could understand.

The elevator door closed. Jin Yan remained where he was, smiling. He knew that the man had ignored him deliberately. He could sense his hostility.

He didn’t know that he could be a threat. How interesting.

Lu Chuan and Zhao Chong came back shortly afterward, both looking rather cheerful. It seemed that their talk had gone well.

“Where’s Xia Ning?” asked Lu Chuan.

Jin Yan smiled. “She left with her friend.”

Back in the parking lot, it had been a while since Xia Ning fastened her seat belt, but the guy showed no sign of starting the car.

“Why was he there?” Qiao Yu finally broke the ice. He was trying his best to keep his temper at bay.

He arrived here at eight o’clock, but her message never came. When he went upstairs to look for her, she was with that man. It took him all his effort to not lose his temper right there and then.

Xia Ning looked at him. “Do you mean Jin Yan? He was attending an event in the building too. We just ran into each other.”

“I don’t like seeing you with him!” said Qiao Yu abruptly.

Xia Ning didn’t understand this prejudice he had toward Jin Yan, not to mention that he had thought she was in love with that man. She couldn’t help but ask, “Is there a reason for that?”

“Do I need to explain?” Qiao Yu turned to Xia Ning with a grim look on his face.

Xia Ning was baffled. She didn’t know what he meant.

“I know you and he has a history and I can live with that. But from now on, you have to keep your distance from him,” said Qiao Yu.

“What?” Xia Ning stared at Qiao Yu in bewilderment. An idea struck her and she asked tentatively, “Did you think that Jin Yan was the boyfriend I was talking about?”

“Are you telling me you have other boyfriends?!” Qiao Yu’s face darkened. One Jin Yan was all that he could take. The thought of Xia Ning having a relationship with another man was simply too much.

Xia Ning was speechless and amused. Why on earth would he think that Jin Yan was her boyfriend?

“I only said that to upset you.” Xia Ning cleared her throat.

“Hm?” Qiao Yu’s face lit up a little and he stared at Xia Ning.

Xia Ning met his gaze. “Jin Yan wasn’t my boyfriend.”

“So who was this boyfriend you were talking about?” Qiao Yu frowned and tensed up.

Xia Ning didn’t know what to say. There was no boyfriend. Why couldn’t this man understand?

“What I mean is: I didn’t have any boyfriend. Not Jin Yan, not anyone. I only said it so that you would leave me alone.”

Qiao Yu’s eyes lit up and he looked dazed.

“Are you still not convinced?” Xia Ning frowned. “Qiao Yu, what on earth do you want?!”

Reaching out, Qiao Yu pulled her into his arms. His kiss landed on her hair and he whispered, “I believe you. I really do.” What other choice did he have?

He would only upset himself if he didn’t believe her.

Resting in Xia Ning’s arms, Xia Ning said in a low voice. “Jin Yan is just a friend. Don’t turn against him for a petty reason like this.” Men can be so vengeful at times.

Frowning, Qiao Yu said after a while. “Alright.”
