Chapter 712 - Who Were You With Tonight?

Chapter 712:

Who Were You With Tonight?

If Jin Yan’s girlfriend was also in the showbiz, Xia Ning could understand why he didn’t tell her about his girlfriend.

Things were complicated in the showbiz. Actors and actresses relied on the support of their fans as much as their acting skills to maintain their high income. The fans usually didn’t like to see their idols getting married. After all, no one would be happy to hear that the people they fantasized about had found their other half.

That was why many people in the showbiz had kept their marriage a secret, fearing that they might lose fans if the news got out.

“Find a day and introduce us,” said Xia Ning all of a sudden. Jin Yan was like a brother to her and she was genuinely happy to see that her brother had found the woman he loved.

Looking at Xia Ning, Jin Yan said, “Do you remember the reality show I’m going to be on? The guests are all real couples. You’ll see her then.”

Xia Ning’s eyes widened and she covered her mouth as she stared at Jin Yan in disbelief. She only said with a smile a while later. “I see that you’re taking her very seriously. A reality show that has real couples as guests will surely make it to the front page. Music King Jin, I can’t wait to meet the beauty.”

“Yes, she’s indeed very beautiful. Jin Yan looked at Xia Ning with a gentle smile on his face. “We’ve talked for so long. I bet you’re hungry now. Come. I’ll treat you to some nice food.”

“Nice food is the only kind of food I’ll accept!” Xia Ning raised an eyebrow. “I’m gonna eat as much as I can and the bill’s on you! That’s what you get for keeping such a big secret from me.”

Jin Yan rubbed Xia Ning’s head. “Sure. Whatever you want. You can eat anything you like. How about that?”

“I like the sound of that!” Xia Ning smiled, then led the way.

It was eleven o’clock after they ate and Jin Yan proposed that Xia Ning spent the night at his place, but she turned him down.

She wouldn’t have thought twice about not going home for the night before, but now, she had a child and the child’s father to consider. A sleepover was naturally out of option.

Jin Yan drove Xia Ning all the way back home. Xia Ning got off at the front gate, said goodbye to him, then went back inside.

On the second floor balcony, Qiao Yu stood in the shadows and watched the car outside the front gate a short distance away. His gaze then shifted to the figure that was walking inside and the look in his eyes was indescribable.

Xia Ning checked her phone as she walked toward the villa and only then did she see that her phone was switched off.

It was said that there was some issue with the battery of this model, which led to system failure when the temperature was too low. It seemed that she had just become a victim.

Switching her phone back on, she saw over a dozen unanswered calls from Qiao Yu and she frowned. She could already picture how mad Qiao Yu was going to be in her head.

At that thought, she quickened her footsteps.

All was quiet in the main hall and Xia Ning went straight up to the second floor. It was pitch dark inside. Apparently, everyone had gone to bed.

Xia Ning heaved a sigh of relief. No matter what happened, it would always be better to leave it till the morning. She pushed the door open but bumped into something hard after she only made one step, which made her jump. Looking up, she saw a tall figure blocking her way.

Xia Ning looked at him in surprise. “Why are you still up?”

“Why didn’t you tell us that you were going to be so late?” Qiao Yu asked in a stern tone. “Why was your phone off?”

“I was with a friend and lost count of time. I didn’t know my phone was off. I think it was because of my battery,” replied Xia Ning. Looking up at the man in front of her, she said in a low voice. “I’m sorry to have made you worried.”

Stepping forward, Qiao Yu kept his gaze on Xia Ning. “Then tell me. Who were you with tonight?”
