Chapter 833 - Do People Change?

Chapter 833: Do People Change?

In the Qiao house, Qiao Yu looked at his phone and curled his lips. His mind was filled with the shy look of her holding the phone. He really wanted to hold her in his arms and bully her.

On the other side, Xia Ning picked up Jin Yan’s call and turned the car around. Her destination was Jin Yan’s house in the city.

Xia Ning had been to Jin Yan’s place a couple of times, so she was already familiar with it.

The doorbell rang a few times but no one opened the door.

It was dark in the room. Xia Ning remembered Jin Yan’s tone when he called her before and felt more worried. She took out her phone and was about to make a call when the door opened suddenly.

Under the light of the phone, Xia Ning looked at the man in front of her. He was still wearing his daytime clothes. His face was a bit pale and his eyes were empty. In the dark night, he looked like a ghost. So scary.

But he was Jin Yan, so she was not afraid.

“Jin Yan…” Xia Ning called out in a low voice.

“Didn’t I tell you not to come?” Jin Yan stood at the door and looked at the girl in front of him. “I’m fine. You should go back.”

Xia Ning put away her phone and looked at him. She frowned and said, “How can I feel at ease when you’re like this? Make way. I’ll go in and turn on the lights. You look so scary.” As she spoke, she pushed Jin Yan away and stepped into the house. She turned on the lights in the hallway and walked forward, turning on the lights in the living room.

Jin Yan turned around to look at her and frowned. “It’s so late. Aren’t you afraid that President Qiao will be upset if you come out?”

“At this time, you are still worried about me.” Xia Ning turned around and darted a look at him. “Have you had dinner?”

Jin Yan shook his head. “No.”

“Wait!” Xia Ning raised her eyebrows and went straight to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and started to dig around.

Jin Yan saw her bending over and flipping through the fridge. He walked over and said in a low voice, “No need. I’m not hungry.”

“You’re not hungry. I’m hungry, okay?” Xia Ning said unpleasantly. She took out a packet of frozen dumplings from the fridge. She took a look and realized it was not frozen dumplings but the ones that he made.

“There are only dumplings left in the fridge. Let’s eat dumplings tonight.” As she spoke, before Jin Yan could reply, Xia Ning took the pot, washed it, and started boiling water.

Soon, two bowls of steaming dumplings were served.

Jin Yan looked at the girl who was eating dumplings and sighed. “You really don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine.”

“I’ve been working for the whole day. Can we talk after dinner?” Xia Ning looked up and glared at Jin Yan. “Be reticent at meals; be silent in bed.”

“Oh,” Jin Yan answered hesitantly. He lowered his head and started to eat dumplings.

When she was done with the dumplings, Xia Ning was not in a rush to collect the dishes. She leaned back on the chair and looked at Jin Yan. “Now that I’m full, tell me what happened. Why did Li Man move out all of a sudden?”

When she received his call back then, he continuously asked why and why she wanted to leave him. What did he do wrong?

Of course, Xia Ning knew “she” was referring to Li Man.

Jin Yan looked at Xia Ning and shook his head. “I don’t know. When I got back, I got a call from her. She said she wanted to move out. She said she needed some time to calm down and told me not to look for her.”

Xia Ning heard this and remembered the gossips from the past two days. She darted a look at Jin Yan. “Does Li Man really not mind your gossips?”

“She said she doesn’t mind.” Jin Yan looked at Xia Ning with a sad face. “Xiao Ke, do you think people change?”
