Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 577 Descent (9)

Kyran always thought that the reason he could combine the two was because both were his Innate magic. He remembered that every time he combined them, he would use Draconic magic as the base while Void magic complemented it.

For example, the Void Scales came to be after combining the Regis’s defensive technique— which he soon learned was Draconic magic— with Void magic.

There was also the Void Needle. To ensure that they would expand without ‘disintegrating’ the insides of his target, before making them explode, he applied the Regis’s tempering technique with the Void magic.

But now that he thought of it, using Draconic magic as the base was not really necessary. With the Void magic’s nature, there was a possibility to affect the nature of any magic that made contact with it. That had always been the case with other magic.

Then again, Draconic magic was different; it was Ancient magic.

But what about Soul magic?

Kyran could neutralize Haylee’s Soul magic, and it was also Ancient magic. As for Cyneah, the only reason she was able to use the Soul magic’s healing nature was because Kyran lowered his guard on her.

Kyran inwardly shook his head and thought, ‘I’m getting side-tracked.’

This was not the time to ponder those things.

Basically, Kyran believed that the only reason he could combine Draconic and Void magic was because they were his Innate magic.

But what exactly did it mean to possess ‘innate’ magic?

Based on the universally known fact, a mage would know their innate magic from the magic energy their magic core attracted.

Then what about Kyran? Who possessed not only two but four magic cores?

Kyran remembered how the overlapping voices back in the Tower of Tribulation offered him several paths during his training.

Strength. Light. Poison. Draconic. Void. Fire. Wind. Space. Elements.

The Tower definitely gave these choices for a reason.

Kyra furrowed his brows as he recalled one of his magic cores was contaminated by several magic energies. He did not think much about it, but now, he wondered whether the presence of those magic energies was the reason the Tower offered those other seven paths.

But how did those magic energies enter his magic cores?

The Void magic’s absorption ability flashed through Kyran’s mind.

The first time he used the Void’s absorption ability, he absorbed the concentrated energy from the Four-Colored Ruin Array. The second time was when he fought the Theihorns in the Valley of Morte. Then there was the time when he absorbed the two mutated basilisks.

Now the two mutated basilisks had become his Sigils, and their poison magic seemed to have combined well with Void magic.

Could it be that anything he absorbed, whether they were magic attacks or beasts, could be used by him?

Then Kyran recalled the Elements path the Tower offered. As far as he was concerned, he had never absorbed Nolan’s magic before. So why did that one appear?

Kyran inwardly shook his head again and pushed aside all questions that could not be answered straight away. He focused on the crucial part of his contemplation, which was understanding the Void magic’s nature of ‘turning nothing, into something.’

Kyran looked at the Sovereign Cradle, ‘If I absorbed a part of the cradle, will it allow me to circulate the magic energies within and reinforce it?’

While he was pondering about it, Kyran already approached the Sovereign’s Cradle and summoned his magic. A small dark purple vortex hovered on his palm, and he raised it toward the cradle.

Distortion appeared on the cradle as the dark purple vortex attracted it.

Kyran controlled the amount of energy the vortex would absorb from the cradle— else, it would collapse, and the Human plane would lose the only thing that prevented the Sovereigns from descending with their magic levels intact.

Outside the Regis Estate’s Inner Wall, Mannick looked up after sensing a slight fluctuation from the Sovereign’s Cradle. However, whatever caused it disappeared after only a few seconds, making him frown in confusion.

As soon as Kyran retracted the dark purple vortex, he observed the magic energies he absorbed and just as he guessed, they entered his third magic core.

At first glance, his third magic core looked translucent— similar to his fourth magic core. However, if he looked at it using his magic sense, he could feel different types of magic energies swirling inside.

Kyran guessed these magic energies did not have any color because he had never used them. They only reflected the experience he had of using them, which was basically ‘none.’

Kyran gathered the magic energies he absorbed from the Sovereign’s cradle and let it circulate within the Shaiha. Soon, the multi-colored Shaiha glowed splendidly. After that, Kyran noticed several magic energies circulating within his body along with his Void magic. These magic energies were indeed similar to the ones that made up the Sovereign’s Cradle.

‘This…’ Kyran’s face darkened. If he had learned how to use the Void magic’s nature of ‘turning nothing, into something’ earlier, he wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble of combining his Void magic with Draconic magic to produce magic akin to Strengthening magic.

Kyran was unsure when he absorbed Strengthening magic energy and could only guess that it might have been part of the Four-colored Ruin Array, but he already possessed it and could circulate it within the Shaiha.

‘What’s done is done,’ he told himself with a sigh of resignation. ‘There is no point in dwelling on it.’

In any case, with this, Kyran actually had another trump card. As long as he absorbed other people’s magic attack and their magic energy, he could circulate that magic energy and summon its corresponding magic.𝒐𝚟𝑳xt.𝒸𝓞𝔪

‘I still have to study it, though. This Void’s nature definitely has a limit. For now, I can use it to reinforce the Sovereign’s Cradle,’ Kyran thought.

Without wasting time, he circulated the different magic energies from the cradle in the Shaiha. After that, the Shaiha attracted the surrounding magic energies, and Kyran gathered and aimed them toward the Sovereign’s Cradle in the sky.

The Sovereign’s Cradle crackled as the magic energies within received a boost.

Again, Mannick sensed the change in the cradle. But upon realizing it was not harmful and was even helpful to the cradle, he let it be. He already guessed that it had something to do with Kyran.

Kyran heaved a sigh of relief when he noticed that the cradle’s effect on the remaining force from the red light with lightning and the fiery ball increased. The space distortion around the hole also started to repair.

‘It looks like the reason the cradle cannot repair the hole in the sky is because it has lost too much energy,’ he thought.

With the reinforced Sovereign’s Cradle, the size of the hole in the sky slowly shrunk. Although it would probably take some time before it was fully repaired, at least the threat of the fiery ball’s untimely descent could be prevented.

In any case, Kyran still planned on destroying the fiery ball once the cradle repaired the hole to a certain extent. By then, the size of the ball peaking from it would have gotten smaller. Even if he used his Void magic or Draconic magic to destroy it, he would not aggravate the space distortion. He could even use Strengthening magic to enhance his physical strength. Using only his raw strength would not cause any problems. Even if Osric saw him, he would only think that Kyran used the Regis Blessing to punch the ball.

Speaking of Osric, Kyran remembered Tritus’s situation. He turned and was about to check on him when a flash of dazzling light appeared from the sky.

Kyran already had his back on the fiery ball the moment the dazzling light appeared. As if in slow motion, his eyes widened as he tried to look back at the sky again. However, by the time he turned, the whole surrounding was already covered in a blinding light, reducing his vision in an instant.

The blinding light touched the ground, and a powerful explosion followed.

BOOM!

Osric and Tritus, who were locked in battle, noticed the dazzling light. But because they were focused on each other, they ignored it.

That was their mistake.

As soon as the explosion erupted, the shockwave spread out, blowing away everything in its path.

Osric was stunned by the explosion’s might because his domain got destroyed in an instant. He waved his magic staff, and the bluish-white sea serpent returned inside; then, his body turned into water that seeped into the ground.

Tritus also unsummoned the trident’s soul and pierced the trident on the ground to prevent himself from getting blown away. Still, he was pushed back a few hundred meters before stopping.

The Sovereign’s Cradle in the sky crackle as gold lightning enveloped it.

As the blinding light disappeared, a figure was revealed, hovering in the sky.

“Finally, I managed to get in,” the figure said.
