MMORPG: The Elementalist

Chapter 149

Chapter 149: Change of Perspective and Wargod’s Canyon of Trials Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

When Qin Ruo first saw Ron’s Mistress, he thought that the girl was very “open-minded” based on his understanding of her name. She must not be a woman who respected herself. But after she swung out her attack on that Tier 4 Aquamancer, Ron’s Mistress had struck a better impression on Qin Ruo and was swiftly “upgraded” to ‘the open-minded girl who had “true strength”!

That strike from her sword was incredible, in terms of aesthetics and strength. At least from how Qin Ruo look at it, Ron’s Mistress’ strength had far exceeded the strength of the Zephyr Swordsmaster Little Apple and Ignis Swordsmaster Grand Magi! Perhaps the girl was still a far cry from catching up to Slayer’s Heart, but in term of strength, the strength of a normal Tier 4 Ignis Swordsmaster was definitely not her match.

Other than that, Qin Ruo had heard from Slayer’s Heart and the others and already had a deeper understanding of the Mythical Battlefield—its harshness and danger. The fact that Ron’s Mistress used only one Honor Point to kill the Tier 4 Aquamancer in a calm manner had also proven one thing straight.

Ron’s Mistress was a player who was experienced on the Mythical Battlefield. Furthermore, her Honor Points must be quite high…

Knowing that was enough for Qin Ruo to change his opinion about this girl with chestnut hair and a crude name.

As time passed, Ron’s Mistress’s performance had once again made Qin Ruo look at her in a new light.

Ever since she killed that Tier 4 Aquamancer, Ron’s Mistress had started moving toward the other direction. It was very obvious that while that Tier 4 Aquamancer was pursuing them and spewing vulgarities, the route that Ron’s Mistress took was not the route that would lead to Ron. That had caused Qin Ruo to doubt that the girl wanted to kill him earlier on when that Tier 4 Elementalist had said those harsh and distasteful words to her.

Qin Ruo brought up that question to her. But she did not even turn around when she answered.

“At first, I was planning to lure him further away first before making my move. But who knew you would make your move on him first…” After saying that, she paused for a moment. Then she spoke with a little laughter in between her words, “You’re very cunning. I only thought that afterward. You did not launch any malicious attack directly at him.”

“You can’t say that that’s cunning though.”

Qin Ruo corrected her.

“Alright, you’re clever then.” The girl swiftly continued. After that, she seemed to suddenly have the interest to chat.

“That annoying guy does not know our precise location even if he has gathered his friends. We don’t have to worry about him interrupting us while we are completing our quest. Hmm, so tell me about yourself and your situation.”

“What do you want to know?”

“Hmm, the levels of your Aquaheal, Frostbarrier, and Darkfrost Shield…”

“You don’t want to ask about my battle capability? I remember there’s this one condition stated in the quest that I must keep you safe while escorting you through your journey to find your lover and meet him.” Qin Ruo asked her back without answering her.

“Lover? Hehe. I like that word. But about the escort part, there are many methods. One being you protecting yourself properly and following me from behind while healing me. That’s your responsibility.” Ron’s Mistress sounded very confident. Qin Ruo failed to refrain himself from laughing a little. He had never expected to become a babysitter again. Furthermore, he had become a babysitter to a player with an adequate strength this time. Fate was truly an amazing thing, isn’t it? After he told Ron’s Mistress his situation, the girl finally turned around in surprise.

“You’ve just advanced into your new tier?”

Qin Ruo nodded fervently. Anyway, since he had already obtained Ron’s Mistress’ approval and officially joined the quest, he would not need to worry that she would go back on her words. The player who hires others to join the quest would need to give out all of the rewards from the quest if he or she ever decides to cancel the quest halfway.

Ron’s Mistress then held her head with her hands, as though she was in pain. It was obvious that she had not anticipated recruiting a Tier 4 rookie that had only graduated from the line of other rookies. She looked at Qin Ruo, confused as to laugh or to cry. She sighed a few seconds later.

“You’re quite bold yourself.”

“Thanks for the compliment. But since you think that an Aquamancer or a Radiant Priest is enough to escort you to your destination, I think that… I fit the bill.”

When Qin Ruo said those words, his high confidence was revealed in the way he talked and Ron’s Mistress’ eyes widened a little.

That was not Qin Ruo trying to oversell himself though. The system had already admitted that—among the players of the Aquamancer Class, how many had the opportunity to receive a Tier 4 Advancement Quest of that sort of difficulty? Furthermore, how many of them were capable of getting away unharmed from the assaults of fifty Snow Wolves, thirty Yetis, fifteen Ice Pythons, one Wintry Vajra, and some Snow Giants?

Then again, Qin Ruo had switched up his Berserk Ice Demon’s Elemental Robe and his Frostsoul Necklace before he arrived for the quest. His HP had been boosted from its initial value of 680 points up to 880 points. He had the competence to battle in any situation now. Not to mention that his speed of casting his Water Elementalism had increased by 25%. His Elemental Damage had increased by 10%. His Magic Effects had increased by 8%… That was the unprecedented strongest state that Qin Ruo had ever reached.

Qin Ruo also had no idea how far he could perform. But he was deeply convinced that he would definitely not be weaker than the other Tier 4 Aquamancer.

“Alright then!”

Ron’s Mistress gave in as she no longer clung on the issue whether Qin Ruo was a rookie who just advanced into Tier 4 or not. She began briefing Qin Ruo about the things that he needed to pay attention to during the quest. She also hoped that Qin Ruo would not die halfway through the quest. That would end up wasting even more time and cause even more unwarranted situations to arise. (One of the problems would include that trash that she killed earlier on).

As she was explaining, even though Qin Ruo was still not clear about what kind of monsters he would be facing, he gradually understood the place that Ron’s Mistress was headed was a very narrow pathway that was similar to a canyon. The monsters inside the place were not little too. The monsters ranged from Level 45 to Level 48.

Among those monsters, some of the monsters also possessed ranged AoE Magic Attacks.

Qin Ruo inhaled gently as he listened to the girl. He finally understood the reason why Ron’s Mistress would say that he was quite bold now—it seemed that the difficulty of charging through a horde of high-level Tier 4 monsters was pretty high.

With furrowed brows, Qin Ruo asked, “So what’s your plan then?” He believed that either Ron’s Mistress was really capable and confident or she would have had some other plans to get through the monster horde.

“I’m very glad that you didn’t piss your pants after hearing all that. You seem really confident with yourself.” This time, it was Ron’s Mistress’s turn to look at Qin Ruo with new eyes. She fixed her clever bright eyes on him and laughed in satisfaction.

From her point of view, an Aquamancer who just advanced into Tier 4 should really have a certain level of strength because he was able to remain calm under that sort of circumstance—even though she could not understand why only a competent player with strength would advance into Tier 4 after so long. Why would a player with capabilities still wear a few pieces of equipment that were obviously of trash tier? Only his clothes and his staff were slightly acceptable.

“The plan is simple. You activate your barrier and follow behind me. I will lure the monsters to me. Hey, don’t look at me like that. Rest assured that my equipment can handle all that…”

After hearing what she said, Qin Ruo muttered to himself then he said, “Actually, I think that the final goal of this quest is to send you right in, am I right? The Potions are just an excuse the two of you came up with!”

“You’re clever.”

Ron’s Mistress’s expression changed. She instantly recovered and revealed a toothy smile at Qin Ruo. She did not say anything after that. Instead, she pointed her finger straight at the entrance into a canyon in front of them.

“We’re here!”

The black canyon in front less than twenty meters wide. The shadows of the monsters lurked in the depths of the canyon’s shadow, each with the approximate length of a hundred meters. The situation seemed worse than what she had described just now…

Qin Ruo felt a weight pressed down on his chest. With only the two of them, luring the monsters and charging through the monster horde did not seem to be a good idea. If one of them did not do it properly, they risked getting killed instantly. For the first time, he wondered whether the girl was pulling his leg.

“If you don’t intend to cancel the quest halfway, then you should activate your Barrier and your Darkfrost Shield now. Follow closely. When we’re inside, remember to pay attention to me and keep healing me. You’ll get a small amount of damage. You only need to consume potions.”

“…”

Qin Ruo stayed silent. After looking at the monster horde in the canyon and then at Ron’s Mistress, if he had not witnessed her battle skills outside the village and got to know her to a certain extent, Qin Ruo would definitely have thought that this woman was mad.

“You sure we’re just going to charge through it like this?”

“I am counting on your performance!”

Ron’s Mistress did not seem to be worried about the danger in the canyon, not even a bit.

Qin Ruo struggled internally for a long time. As he looked at the joy in the girl’s eyes growing, he finally nodded.

“If you’re not scared, then I shouldn’t be worried by anything too! If you say we go, we go!”

Qin Ruo made some calculation and activated his dual defense. With the addition of his Water Elementalism ready, he did not have to worry too much. After all, he was not the one who would be tanking the monsters.

If anything really happened halfway through the quest, then that would be something that Ron’s Mistress had to bear. He could only support with his Tier 4 dual defense state and his Elementalism. For a brief period of time, he would not be affected by any attack. Plus, his 880 HP should allow him to hold on for a certain period of time. As long as he did not get too deep into the place, it would not be difficult for him to charge his way back out here.

Qin Ruo consented to carry on with the quest. Ron’s Mistress was shocked to hear his answer. She had that strange look in her eyes as she looked Qin Ruo from head to toe. “You are really not worried at all?”

“Cut the crap! It would be weird if I’m not worried! I worry that you would be killed by the monsters when you’re just halfway into the canyon… Who would pay me the MP Potion that I lost?! Oh, yeah! I must say this clearly now. How do we calculate the MP Potions that I consume during this quest? Also, how do I know that there is nowhere more dangerous after we get out of the canyon? If the distance is too far, you must be responsible for all my MP Potion consumption!”

The things that Qin Ruo kept fussing about was obviously completely different from Ron Mistress’s worry. She stared at Qin Ruo then gave him five bottles of MP Potions (M).

After the trade was completed and she saw that Qin Ruo had swiftly activated his Frostbarrier, Ron’s Mistress shook her head. It was truly confusing as to whether this man was really confident about his own capabilities as he claimed, or he was too egoistic to the extent that he had an exaggerated opinion of his own abilities.
