Peerless Battle Spirit

Chapter 1920 The Unreliable Old Buddha

Qin Nan wore a confused look as he read the words on the wall.

Cang?

Who’s that?

Why did the name sound a little familiar to him?

Why was he feeling so uncomfortable?

“Right, the fourteenth Supreme Daoism faction that the Beast Hide Drawing has established is called the Heaven-Slaying Sect (Cang-Slaying Sect).”

Qin Nan recalled something.

In other words, the Beast Hide Drawing had treated Cang as his enemy, an enemy of life and death whom he hated to the bone.

However, the words on the wall were implying that Cang was not the bad guy, yet the people were unaware of the truth.

“It’s too complicated.”

Qin Nan shook his head.

However, the name Cang had clearly gotten his attention.

He was starting to uncover the truth as his cultivation continued to improve. He was learning more about his mysterious past life, the Divine God of Battle, the Beast Hide Drawing, and the other Immortals.

He believed he would soon link all the clues together and uncover everything that happened in the Divine God of Battle’s era.

“Qin Nan, what did you say? Can you really see words on the wall?”

Doom opened his eyes wide and inspected the wall carefully.

“Forget it, let’s head out.”

Qin Nan shook his head.

The man and the beast continued to search around in the mysterious space for an hour, but they did not find anything useful.

They had no choice but to turn around and attempt to subdue the Tree of Spirit.

To their surprise, the outline of the tree disappeared when their immortal force came into contact with the Tree of Spirit, as if it was just an illusion.

Qin Nan and Doom had no choice but to give up. They returned to the Bodhi Pond. They came back empty-handed apart from the words Qin Nan discovered on the wall.

“A day has passed. You may leave now!”

Some time later, a calm voice sounded from above. Qin Nan opened his eyes and flew out of the Bodhi Pond. He entered the gate that the statues summoned.

His vision twisted rapidly. A few moments later, Qin Nan found himself in a familiar place. It was the restaurant in the Bodhi Prayer City where he met Yuanji and Yuanjue.

“Qin Nan, are you alright?”

Yuanji and Yuanjue quickly went up to him.

“I’m fine, the Bodhi Pond is quite interesting,” Qin Nan said with a calm smile.

“That’s great.”

Yuanji let out a relieved sigh. He grunted as a thought crossed his mind, “I didn’t think that old prick would do something like that! It’s good to see that you’re fine, or else, I would break off my relationship with him!”

A cold harrumph came from the rift. Old Buddha Nantai showed up in the restaurant out of nowhere.

“Who are you trying to break off a relationship with?” Old Buddha Nantai said with a long face.

“Mas…master?”

Yuanji and Yuanjue were astounded. The former quickly forced a smile and said, “Master, you do know that I’m struggling to control myself. I was just being ironic…”

Old Buddha Nantai waved his hand and snapped, “I’ll deal with you later. I have something to discuss with Qin Nan. You two, head inside.”

Yuanji and Yuanjue exchanged glances and saw the astonishment in one another’s eyes. However, they nodded and went to the next room without saying a word.

Old Buddha Nantai waved his hand and summoned a Bodhi glow to encapsulate himself and Qin Nan. He said with a smile, “Cultivator Qin Nan, I apologize for setting you up.”

Qin Nan shook his head. He asked curiously as he thought of something, “Senior, I’m a little confused. Why were you so sure that I would go inside the space? Why did you know I’m going to be fine inside it?”

Did Old Buddha Nantai know that he had the Divine Battle Spirit, thus he was safe from the eighteen corpses?

“Hehe, it’s very simple. I asked Feiyue about you. She said that you will definitely go inside the space if you noticed it, and you won’t face any danger too.”

Old Buddha Nantai wore a wide grin.

Qin Nan’s lips twisted.

Everything made sense now. After all, the copper mirror was familiar with his personality. She knew about the Divine Battle Spirit too.

“There’s something I don’t understand still. What is senior trying to achieve by luring me into the space? Why didn’t you go inside it yourself?” Qin Nan asked.

“The space under the Bodhi Pond is quite special. I couldn’t go inside it, just like many people. Some Exceptional Geniuses might be able to go inside it, but they won’t find anything useful either.”

“But you are different, you are a successor of the Immortals.”

Old Buddha Nantai obviously could not explain everything in detail. He quickly changed the topic, “I’m only interested in two things. Did you see stones like this?”

He flickered his finger. A Bodhi ray turned into an illusionary stone. It was the strange crystals that Qin Nan and Doom found in the mysterious space.

“I did. There were three of them. I tried to bring them with me, but they wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I tried,” Qin Nan said.

Old Buddha Nantai was reluctant to tell him everything, but the old monk was not trying to harm him. He even saved him from lots of trouble, thus he was willing to share his discoveries.

“Three of them…”

Old Buddha Nantai murmured as his eyes emitted a Bodhi glow.

“Qin Nan, did you discover the seventeen corpses that were nailed to the wall?” Old Buddha Nantai asked.

This time, his eyes surprisingly had a nervous look.

“Seventeen? I saw eighteen of them,” Qin Nan shook his head and said.

“Eighteen? HAHAHA, there are eighteen of them! Does that mean that demon is nailed in there too? The Heavens never bar one’s way indeed!”

Old Buddha Nantai was startled. He soon burst out laughing while unleashing a shocking aura.

Qin Nan was startled.

This Old Buddha Nantai’s cultivation was absolutely terrifying. He was intimidated by the aura alone.

“Cultivator Qin Nan, you have done me a huge favor!”

Old Buddha Nantai soon collected his thoughts after some time. He withdrew his aura and patted Qin Nan on the shoulder with an excited look, “Take that Liujie if you want. Even if you are planning to kill him, I can guarantee your safety.”

Qin Nan’s lips twisted.

It was truly like master like disciple. Didn’t Buddhists always insist to be merciful toward others? Weren’t they from the same faction? Why would he even agree to kill an Exceptional Genius of his own faction…

“However, I’m in a little trouble lately. A Buddha is watching me closely, so I can’t blatantly provide you with protection.”

Old Buddha Nantai wore an awkward smile and said as he remembered something, “That Bodhisattva Guangming will soon come and get his revenge. I’m afraid you’ll have to hide somewhere for a few days.”
