Chapter 794: Being Treated like a God

There were many posts about the new female priest on the online forums. The contents were all-inclusive; some posts had even attached photos of her. It was evident that those people who knew her intimately, including the students at the New Era Institute, the boss of the gaming parlor, the owner of the barbecue stall and the residents of the Mingshen neighborhood, had contributed to this.

For various reasons, no post had said anything negative about Zong Lizi. The hardships she experienced during her childhood and her imperturbable temperament had all become evidence of her steadfast personality. Her father, a foolish professor, was described in those posts as a good father who tried his best to create a bright future for his daughter.

Reading these posts, Zong Lizi had gradually calmed down from her initial excitement and felt rather embarrassed. She didn’t want to read them but couldn’t contain her curiosity, all the while covering her blushed face with her hands.

When she read the posts placed on top of the forums discussing the broadcasting of the selection of the female priest, she recalled the scenes back then and found that she had done more embarrassing things than she thought.

Most of the discussions in the posts weren’t about the contents of the tests or the inappropriate inquiry of the mistress of the Mo clan, but her drunkenness.

“That little girl was really adorable…”

“Was she actually drunk?”

“She threw up! Yeah, she did!”

“Hahahaha! Someone had actually vomited during the female priest selection!”

“If someone like her can become the female priest, I can become the governor since I’ll fall down drunk after one cup of alcohol.”

“I take back what I just said. She is really qualified! Zong Lizi is truly amazing!”

“Yeah, the new female priest is really adorable! She is so real! She is much better than those hypocritical mistresses from above!”

“From above? You’re discriminating against the other regions. That’s pretty inappropriate.”

Zong Lizi came to the deck as if she was still drunk. “Was…I really disgraceful at the time?” she asked Jing Jiu.

Jing Jiu thought that Nan Wang would have laughed at her if she had seen the condition Zong Lizi was in at the time. “Not too bad,” replied Jing Jiu.

Zong Lizi asked in bewilderment, “Am I…really a female priest now?”

Thinking of the physical condition of the current female priest, Jing Jiu returned, “Not for a long time.”

According to the inheritance rule of the female priest, the new female priest would inherit the position only after the previous female priest died.

The current female priest of the Stargate was mentally exhausted, so she opted to select an heir this year.

Yet, Jing Jiu wouldn’t let her die so early.

Zong Lizi thought he was referring to her inferior knowledge and Cultivation state. She clenched her fists forcefully while saying, “I’ll try my hardest.”

Jing Jiu’s ear twitched a little as he spun his head toward a side wall. Hearing the noise in the room next door, he frowned slightly.

Zong Lizi noticed a small cut on his earlobe and thought of many tragic stories about him. “Does it hurt?” she asked sympathetically.

Jing Jiu missed the hand that had often squeezed his earlobe. “I’m fine,” he replied after remaining silent for a while.

Nothing had actually happened. The noise next door was caused by the renovation of the hotel carried out jointly by the Twirling Rain Company and the University of Stargate.

The Twirling Rain Company was good at doing things appropriately. They had arranged a suitable suite for Zong Lizi in order to be on good terms with her.

Given that her status had changed, the treatment would change accordingly.

The walls of a dozen suites had been torn down soundlessly by the laser cutters.

Hundreds of workers wearing soundless shoes walked into the site of the renovation, bringing in all kinds of equipment, and started renovating silently.

With money and sufficient expertise, the workers could achieve something beyond the imagination of the regular folks.

It took only half a night for the whole floor of the hotel to empty and be partitioned into several sections, including a bar, a gym, a gaming room and a private home theatre; everything was arranged in an ideal fashion.

Most of all, the workers didn’t make any sound while carrying out so many projects.

If he were not Jing Jiu, he wouldn’t know that hundreds of workers had been engaged in the renovation for several hours.

The reason the renovation project was carried out jointly by the Twirling Rain Company and the University of Stargate was simple enough.

It was because this hotel belonged to the University of Stargate.

Early the next morning, when Zong Lizi woke up as usual, she came to the living room after she washed her face and brushed her teeth with her eyes closed. She found a letter slid in through the crack under the door by Gao Shu. She couldn’t help but utter a surprised cry after she opened it and glanced at it curiously.

She pulled Jing Jiu up forcibly from the chair on the deck and surveyed the empty floor with him. In the end, they stopped in front of a large gaming compartment. “This is the latest version…more expensive than a flying device!”

Jing Jiu had some knowledge of the gaming compartment. Feeling slightly intrigued, he glanced at it twice.

Zong Lizi remembered that she was not that regular girl with silvery hair anymore; she had become the female priest of this planet. She suddenly felt nervous and bewildered, then extremely grateful…

Pah!!!

She attempted to hug and kiss Jing Jiu, but was stopped by him relentlessly.

“The characters in the game ‘The Path Toward Heaven’ need initial designs. Since it’s your story, you do it.” Zong Lizi pouted her mouth.

Jing Jiu would have refused if it had been anything else.

In Chaotian, he thought zither playing, chess, calligraphy and panting were all pointless.

But for some reason, he agreed with her suggestion after remaining silent for a while.

The Twirling Rain Company and the University of Stargate had a close relationship with the new female priest, which is why it was sensible that they be the first ones to express their respect and friendship to her. In comparison, the New Era Institute was not quite qualified to do the same; besides, the fat president of the institute was worried that the new female priest might remember his earlier improper behavior, so didn’t even have the courage to try. The officials of the Stargate Base and the government were the next in line to do so. After breakfast, Zong Lizi wondered if she should go back to school to continue her education, but that was before she had received two official letters for an audience from the base and the Administrative Bureau.

“I don’t have the experience of dealing with the important figures,” she said to Jing Jiu nervously while kneeling on the chair on the deck. “Are you going to help me?”

“You do have it,” returned Jing Jiu, without giving her a glance.

Zong Lizi understood what he meant after feeling baffled for a moment. “You’ve finally admitted you’re an important figure now,” said she with a smile. “But who are you exactly? I’ve guessed that you were the son of a famous clan in the upper world. Looks like your identity and status are much higher than that. Are you from the Main Planet?”

It was then that the doorbell rang.

Zong Lizi felt surprised. She got up and opened the door and realized it was the main preacher of Shou’er City, followed by the young female officer she had met the night before.

They were from the praying hall; and nobody could stop them when they wanted to visit the new female priest.

Following on the heels of the main preacher, Ran Handong noticed the youth on the deck immediately after they entered the suite.

The youth wore a white cotton pajama. It was rather impolite to meet the guest in such a condition.

Worst of all, he let the new female priest open the door.

What had happened in the next moment shocked her.

The main preacher knelt down on the floor after the door was closed behind him.

He didn’t kneel toward Zong Lizi…it was toward Jing Jiu.

Kneeling was a rarely seen gesture in the Federation of the Milky Way, occurring only occasionally during religious rituals. Nobody deserved such a gesture save for that god and the female priest on certain occasions. As such, few people were used to the reverential prostration before them.

Zong Lizi was still not used to such a ritual yet. She was at a loss, unable to decide if she should move aside, though she opted to approach the main preacher and pull him up.

However, Jing Jiu was quite used to it, saying nonchalantly, “Get up, and out with it.”

He had been the Sect Master of Green Mountain and the supreme emperor; the whole of Chaotian had to kneel before him.

The main preacher got up and bowed to Zong Lizi, saying, “I need to confirm something with you.”

Ran Handong had been paying close attention to Jing Jiu since she entered the room.

The main reason she came to Shou’er City today was because she wanted to meet this youth in addition to telling something to the new female priest, which was bidden by her aunt.

She wanted to find out how the youth survived the attacks from the laser guns of the battleship the night before, which had even weakened the gravitational field in the praying hall by three percent.

How did he kill all those elite soldiers of the Mo clan?

And she witnessed the scene in the suite today.

The main preacher was responsible for the religious affairs in Shou’er City and had a very high status on this planet. Not even she dared receive such a kneeling gesture from him. And yet, Jing Jiu behaved so naturally when someone knelt before him; it was not a pretentious act…It seemed that he had received respect and reverential kneeling of the populace from the moment of his birth.

How come the Federation of the Milky Way had such a person within it?

Even the most famous clan couldn’t produce such an offspring.

The members of the ancient royal family had perished a long time ago.

Who was he then?

When the main preacher and Zong Lizi were conversing, she couldn’t restrain her curiosity any longer and came to the deck. She stood next to the chair and asked, “I’d like to ask you…”

She trailed off.

It was because Jing Jiu raised his head.

The blue tracksuit had been destroyed in the atmosphere. He was wearing pyjamas.

Ran Handong was not surprised to see his body, but his face.

For a moment, she was dazed, wondering if her eyesight had blurred.

She had seemingly seen this face somewhere.

She remembered that that mysterious Cloud Ghost had shown her a portrait in the magic wheel in the data world, telling her that it was his face. She was quite enraged at the time, believing that the man had deceived her; it was because the face was much too perfect. The captain of the battleship even thought that it was a face designed by the most renowned artist of the game company after he saw the portrait.

She didn’t expect to actually see this face here.

It turned out that it was not a portrait or illusion, but a real person.

But, how could a real person have such a perfect face?

The main preacher and Zong Lizi sensed the eerie atmosphere on the deck. They stopped their conversation and looked in the direction of the deck.

It was windless on the deck and deathly quiet.

Gazing at Jing Jiu’s face, Ran Handong asked in a trembling voice, “Who…who are you?”

“I’m the chaser of the rabbit,” replied Jing Jiu while looking at her
