The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 28 - It's Very... Tasteless

"Do I look okay? My dress is totally ruined! I shouldn't attend to this stupid party! Being surrounded by these low lives! Disgusting!"

"Diayu, tone it down. Someone might hear you."

"So what if someone hears me? Our family doesn't need to bow down in front of the Yue family!"

Hearing Che Diayu's affirmation, Lexi's face distorted to a new degree. Surely, Che Diayu is not as bright as she supposed to be. Lexi pities Che Diayu's parents as she could foresee that their precious daughter will be the caused of their doom if she wasn't disciplined properly.

Moreover, can't she tell that the Yue family deliberately flaunted their influence gathering such high profile businessmen? So, how come Che Diayu don't realize the obvious? Unconsciously glancing at the cubicle next to her, Lexi was reminded that aside from her, there's also a person who can hear Che Diayu's spite.

"You stink!" another female voice responded. From Lexi's mind, it must have been the female employee earlier and probably reached the last straw of her patience which made her responded in an aggressive tone.

'Oh, this is getting interesting.'

"Woah, chu~! Are we going to witness a catfight?" Churu who just appeared out of thin air chimed hearing Lexi's thoughts. After all, Churu was undeniably irked by Che Diayu ever since she met her from a few days ago.

'Either way, it's still good to see this brat being confronted by someone lower her status.' Lexi commented back inwardly. She could hear the sentiments of the other girl about how she viewed Che Diayu's spiteful attitude which Lexi silently agreed.

"You! -- How dare you!" By the voice of Che Diayu, she was up for a physical assault. Alas, just then, the cubicle next to where Lexi was eavesdropping burst open. For a moment, Lexi held her breath, anticipating what was happening. Hearing the running water as if someone was washing her hand, Lexi subconsciously thrust forward to hear what was going on and why the loud shouting subsided.

Soon, the same melodious voice rang through the silent hotel's restroom. "Miss Che, don't you believe that life is like a tire? Sometimes you're above and sometimes you're under…"

"But if the tire has gone flat and damaged, you'll be stuck. I just hope you're not below if that happens."

Even Lexi who couldn't see who the person was, she felt a cold shiver run down her spine hearing the sentiment of another woman. In contrast of her nice soothing voice, the aura it emits was intimidating -- enough for everyone present including Lexi to gulp a mouthful of saliva.

'Churu, can you take a look who it was?' Lexi heedlessly asked a favor to Churu as she can't just take a peek herself. That very instant, Churu disappear from the top of Lexi's head to grant the favor.

"Ah, right. This banquet is not to celebrate for the newly appointed Chairwoman but a treat to the people behind its success... and I don't recall the Che family is one of them. You may leave whenever you feel like it. Let's go brave ones." With that said note, Lexi audibly heard few footsteps going out from the bathroom. When Lexi was sure that the woman left, she fixed herself and prepared herself to make her presence known to Che Diayu.

Just as Lexi opened the cubicle door, she immediately caught the fear lingering on Che Diayu's face. She never saw her former friend have this kind of expression which piqued Lexi's interest in the other woman's identity.

Without a word, Lexi elegantly took slow stride in front of the mirror. She then pulled out her lipstick from her purse and started retouching her perfectly painted lips. Glancing at Che Diayu through the mirror, it seems like she hadn't noticed her or to be precise, she was too traumatized to even care about Lexi's presence.

By the time Lexi finished touching up, Che Diayu finally snapped back from her stupor. Her other lackeys had also a horrid reaction. Seeing that Lexi was present, Che Diayu clenched her teeth in annoyance.

"Huh, Lexi -- happy now?" Che Diayu hissed.

"Huh?" pretending that she didn't know what Che Diayu was referring, Lexi raised her brows and tilted her head.

"What a b*tch." Without any particular reason, Che Diayu spat her hate towards Lexi who was not affected at all. Instead, smiled in mockery as she raised her chin as if looking down at the disheveled and haggard Che Diayu.

"If that what makes you feel better." Lexi shrugs in nonchalance. She then began taking strides towards the restroom's exit. Alas, before she could leave Che Diayu and her lackey, Lexi turned around as if she forgot to tell something.

"Just a piece of advice as a former friend, refrain yourself from saying your heedless thoughts out loud. It's very… tasteless." with that said note, Lexi triumphantly left piercing another dagger to Che Diayu's damaged heart.

'Huh, being a bully to a bully feels good.'
