Chapter 695 - A Marriage Proposal?!

Chapter 695: A Marriage Proposal?!

Do something else? What was that supposed to mean? With Enoch in her arms, Xia Ning stiffened a little. She recalled how the man wouldn’t have enough of her when Enoch wasn’t sleeping with him these days and she was a little flustered.

Seeing the anxious look on Xia Ning’s face, Qiao Yu smiled. “You’re getting the wrong idea!” Going up to Xia Ning, he took over Enoch, then headed upstairs.

“It’s snowing outside!”

Snowing? Xia Ning was surprised. She turned to look outside the french windows and saw fluffy snow falling on the windowpane, so soft that it made no sound.

She watched as Qiao Yu went up the stairs. So, the “something else” he talked about had something to do with snow?!

Before long, Qiao Yu came back down.

Xia Ning stood at the sofa and looked at him. “You’ve made arrangements?”

Qiao Yu went up to Xia Ning and put a hand on her shoulder. He suddenly leaned closer, kissing her on the cheek. “Happy New Year!”

Looking at the handsome man standing in front of her, Xia Ning smiled. “Happy New Year!”

She used to celebrate Chinese New Year when she lived in Europe, but it was more of a family ritual that was repeated each year, which felt repetitive. The sight alone bored her and she couldn’t even be bothered to say happy new year.

This was their first Chinese New Year together. It was bland but interesting.

“When Enoch gets a little older, he can stay up late on New Year’s Eve with us!” said Qiao Yu in a whisper. “The three of us. Well, maybe it’ll be the four of us.”

“Qiao Yu!” Xia Ning looked up at Qiao Yu. “Can the baby wait? It’s not the right time now.”

“But why?” Qiao Yu asked with a frown. He thought they had reached an agreement on that, but as it turned out, she had thought differently.

Xia Ning frowned. “It’s like I said. My career is taking off and I’ll have a lot of work to do. A baby just isn’t on my plans.”

“Alright, I’ll wait for you until you’re ready,” said Qiao Yu in a low voice. He took Xia Ning’s hand and led her to the french window. “You said you liked snow. I’ll make you a snowman when the snow is thick enough.”

“You know how to build a snowman?” Xia Ning looked at Qiao Yu in surprise. He didn’t look like the type that would waste time on such a thing.

“It’s not hard!” Qiao Yu said indifferently. “I’ll make you one tomorrow.”

Xia Ning smiled. “Great. My dad used to build me snowmen when I was little and back then, my mum always told me and my dad off. It has been years since I l made one.”

“How about we make one together tomorrow?” Qiao Yu suggested. “But it’s a little cold outside. You should probably stay in.”

Xia Ning nodded. “Alright. I’ll watch you!”

Qiao Yu caressed her cheek, smiled gently, and kissed her on the mouth.

In the end, they cuddled up together on the sofa and watched the Chinese New Year’s Gala. Xia Ning grew sleepy around midnight and she suggested that they go to bed. She then rose to her feet, followed by Qiao Yu.

Qiao Yu reached into his pocket and took out a box. Looking at Xia Ning, he said, “Xia Ning, I wasn’t good enough before, but that’s all in the past. I’ll make it up to you with all my effort. Now, please give me a chance to spend my future with you.”

Xia Ning looked at Qiao Yu in bewilderment and wondered why he brought that up all of a sudden. Those lines sounded familiar. From the corner of her eyes, she saw Qiao Yu slowly raise his hand. He was holding a square box and slowly bending on one knee. Her pupils contracted. Could it be…
